She was bullied, and now her children are bullied: The cycle simply continues.īut we see only hints of the other side of Beatrice: the unleashed, entertaining fire of this showboating Momzilla, which is pretty much the reason this play exists. That’s exacerbated when Beatrice hears a shattering taunt from her childhood. We understand Beatrice, sympathize with her: Reality played her an awful card. It is uncertain as to when the work was composed, which leaves the possibility that it was an early work that was filled with Milton's ideas about the English Civil War or it was a later work that incorporates his despair over the Restoration. The title he chose emphasises Samson as a warrior or an athlete, and the play was included with Paradise Regained and printed on by John Starkey. Many of the ideas dealt with the topic of Samson, and he gave them titles such as Samson pursophorus or Hybristes ("Samson the Firebrand, or Samson the Violent"), Samson marriing or in Ramath Lechi, and Dagonalia (the unholy rites at which Samson performed his vindication of God). ![]() Milton began plotting various subjects for tragedies in a notebook created in the 1640s. ![]() Title page of Paradise Regained (1671), the first publication of Samson Agonistes. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Guest Bio:ĭon Miguel Ruiz is a renowned spiritual teacher and internationally bestselling author of the “Toltec Wisdom Series,” including “The Four Agreements,” “The Mastery of Love,” “The Voice of Knowledge,” “The Four Agreements Companion Book,” “The Circle of Fire,” and “The Fifth Agreement.” The Toltec Wisdom books have sold over 12 million copies, and have been published in 46 languages worldwide.Ĭontinue reading Don Miguel's bio here. ![]() Don shares practical steps you can take to achieve what he refers to as personal freedom and ultimately become the best version of yourself. But i ask you, if you were a parent, and the baby in your care refused to eat peas, and you considered those peas to be essential, would you say to that infant "oh well then by your own choice, you are not going to get the nourishment I know you need? Would you NOT-as many a good mother has done-mix those peas on the spoon with some tasty pears in order to slip the nourishment past the skeptical child? For those of us with Faith, Osteen provides good advice. Look at where he speaks on his speaking tours.and you will understand, Osteen has been given a Gift from God to speak to those who would normally turn a blind eye to the word of Christ. It may be hard to believe for those living in devoutly religious communities, but there are many places in this country where strings of biblical quotes and fire and brimstone logic will only win a door slammed in your face. In order to spend time with the "sick," Osteen needs for them to open their doors and invite him in. Those who want to insert Christ more forcefully into his message should remember that Christ, when asked why he dined with sinners and tax collectors answered that a doctor does not spend his time with the healthy but with the sick. But I am willing to bet the farm that Osteen is NOT aiming at that constituency. Osteen may not have "enough bible" for hard core fire and brimstone Christians, true. ![]() ![]() ![]() Important: When performing water changes and cleaning your tank, you should never wash your filter, filter sponges, decorations or substrate (such as gravel) in tap water! These are the prime living spaces for that good bacteria we mentioned and tap water will kill the bacteria. Just be sure to follow the instructions on the bottle. We recommend a product called Seachem Prime for treating water.Įach week, remove up to a third of the water from your tank and replace it with treated tap water. The answer is that – while you shouldn’t add tap water straight into your tank – you can add tap water once it has been properly treated. You might be wondering how to add water to your tank if you can’t use tap water. This causes ammonia poisoning and seriously harms your fish. The chemicals in tap water will kill the bacteria, which stops the bacteria from processing ammonia. But adding tap water can completely destroy it! ![]() ![]() It’s really important that your tank has this colony of good bacteria. Good bacteria develops through a process called cycling, which we talk about in more detail here.Įssentially, cycling involves growing bacteria that turn your goldfish’s waste (ammonia) into less harmful chemicals. Tap water contains chemicals that will kill all of the ‘good bacteria’ in your tank. Goldfish can only live in tap water when it has been properly treated to remove harmful chemicals. ![]() ![]() ![]() Theodore Adorno argued that writing poetry after Auschwitz was barbaric.
